PORTRAIT

The candid nature of this portrait is arresting. When I consider this photograph I find it difficult to judge what age the Dowling’s eldest son was. My records show that he was three and a half years old at the time this image was taken. What I know with the benefit of hindsight is so much of his now school age character and personality was already present at age three and a half. What a profound and privileged window photography affords us.
